Product Review: Koils by Nature Herbal Soothing Gel

Hola Chicas/Chicos...I pray all is well with everyone..

Well, as promised, I am doing a product review of a product that I got from the World Natural Hair Show..
I had such a fantastic time and I was super excited about all of the natural products, from homemade to commercial..it was GREAT!!

I must add this little pet peeve of mine..and this is just my own pet peeve..but some of the products that claimed to be 'All Natural' still contained some of the harsh ingredients that are not only a 'no-no' to the natural hair world, but are also a 'no-no' in regards to exposing our wonderful selves to the same carcinogens that convinced us to stray away from using relaxers, perms or hair colorants..I mean, to be natural, I thought, was to strive to use products that do not contain these harsh and many times harmful ingredients..but that's me, and that's another story on another day..But just note, my site is about All Things O'Natural and if there is a product that I have mentioned that contains questionable ingredients, please make me aware..I ask you to hold me accountable.Because my goal is to inform and educate others on the benefit of living a natural lifestyle, and that's more than just hair....thanks guys!!

Anywho..I'm going to admit, I am not the biggest product junky. I mainly stick to staple products that work for me, but since I was at the wonderful hair show..I succumbed a bit..ask Vette..lol. And in my product junky-ism stupor, I saw this product from Koils By Nature and ofcourse read the ingredients and I was SOLD!! So, without further ado, the product review..

The Product:

The Ingredients: Herb infused distilled water, aloe vera juice, Shea oil, grapeseed oil, macadamia nut oil, carbomer, guar gum, Jamaican Black Castor, organic marshmallow root, organic slippery elm bark, potassium sorbate, willows bark, eucalyptus and lavender essential oils, citric acid.

What It Claims:

Apply generously to wet or dry hair to smooth edges, twist outs, two strand twists or define your natural curl. This product will not dry hair out or cause flaking.

My personal review:

Well, first let me say, if you are a person who loves scents, this product is not the most fragrant. I smell the Eucalyptus more than anything, which sends a signal to my brain as 'mmmmm, healthy'. The consistency is slightly soupier than pudding. It's not sticky like other commercial gels, but is rather light to the touch. It's definitely not greasy to the touch nor once applied. Soooo..I must say that I really enjoy the product and I am very satisfied that I purchased it. I used it a few times for my edges and for my flat twist that I wore with my bushy fro (pics below). It gave a pretty good hold, and it did what it said..did not cause dryness or flaking..I used it on a few of my twists to check out the hold and it did define my twists, and rather quickly..I must say that my twists were a little harder than usual, but not crunchy and not dry, and definitely not flaky. I did try it for a wash n go and it was a no go..for me..it may work better for someone else, though it did leave my hair surprisingly soft, just not defined, I would probably need to use quite a bit, but in a 4oz. container for $7, that's a no go...so I will just use for my twist outs and be a happy camper. So, without further ado, I would recommend this product for the twist out or braid out, and to smooth the edges..I give it 2 thumbs up.
